Crisis Team Band 6 Clinical Specialists



Camden & Islington Crisis Resolution Teams are seeking proactive, dynamic and skilled staff to be appointed as Band 6 Clinical Specialists (Registered Mental Health Nurse OR Registered General Nurse).


We offer a 24 hour service, 365 days per year intensive crisis assessment and home treatment service providing mental health crisis care to our local residents aged 18 and upwards.


Crisis home treatment promotes social inclusion and aims to support the social network in caring for our local residents when they may be in an acute mental health crisis in the least restrictive environment.


As part of working alongside other acute settings and teams, we gatekeep all admissions into our acute inpatient facilities and additionally support service users leaving hospital through early discharge assessments.



Who are we looking for?


Successful applicants will be required to have extensive post-qualification and registration experience, preferably at least some of which would have been within an acute setting. You must be willing and committed to working as part of a 24-hour rota to include weekends and night duties.


In addition to face-to-face interventions (brief supportive counselling, crisis de-escalation, assessment), you will also possess strong telephone negotiation and support skills as you will be expected to be part of a rotating staff roster which operates the single point of access for the Crisis Resolution Teams within the Trust.


Excellent verbal and written communication skills are an expected prerequisite as is the capacity to utilise all forms of electronic communication. The Trust uses electronic record-keeping throughout all its services and we are working towards becoming a paper-free organisation.


The successful applicants, as with all senior clinical roles, will be expected to support the service by supervising junior staff and mentoring students as required. Ideally you would have completed your mentorship training as part of your CPD and be able to demonstrate leadership and decision-making.


As most of our service user contacts takes place within their own home, you must also be able to either drive (we provide Trust vehicles) or to be able to travel independently via public transport. Although we work as part of a team, the capacity and confidence to undertake lone working is essential.
